The mealworm is the larva of the mealworm beetle.

Birds are known for eating insects. Mealworms are a perfect addition to our birds' normal diet.

Mealworms are a very nutritious, high-protein food for all kinds of birds and reptiles.

The high protein content of ± 50% makes mealworms very suitable as a food source for our birds.

If you want to give your birds an extra treat, give them mealworms. Birds love it!

Mealworms are packed with protein, a nutrient that is very important for birds. Especially in the spring the birds can use this very well. Building nests, feeding young, protecting their territory are all energy-consuming things. Supplementary feeding with mealworms is therefore not only great fun, it is also very good for the birds.

Mealworms: a crunchy snack for birds and fowl, various rodents and reptiles. Mealworms: a healthy and protein-rich addition to the daily diet.

Mealworms are best kept in a refrigerator or in a large PVC crate with smooth walls.

Store mealworms as cool as possible, preferably in the refrigerator. Do not place mealworms in direct sunlight.

As a food you can offer mealworms bran or wholemeal bread. You can also give some apple or carrot. You can prevent mold by not giving too much moisture-rich food. Offer new food again when the previous one is completely used up.

You can increase the nutritional value of mealworms by adding vitamins and calcium. You can also enrich it by sprinkling insect sprinkle food (mealworms or cricket food) over it.

Mealworms are popular as bird food for all kinds of birds.

Many bird keepers cut the mealworm with the brown hard chitin skin into small pieces or they cut off the head. For example, birds can pinch the mealworm with the beak, as it were. The hard and poorly digestible chitin skin then remains. You can also offer the just shed white mealworm to your birds, these are much more digestible. Beware: a live mealworm that has been eaten can still bite the bird's body. The mealworm can thus damage the crop, stomach or intestines of our birds.

Make sure your birds have variety in food animals. This gives you a better general composition of nutrients. This prevents one-sided feeding and certainly benefits the general condition of your birds.
